However, it deals little damage per shot, but its good RoF and large magazine can make this weapon useful early on.

The PDW-R can employ this method of engagement to greater effect than other similar weapons due to is higher accuracy, meaning that more of shots will successfully strike instead of missing. This accuracy is partly due to the use of lower powered projectiles, sacrificing ballistic effect of each shot in favor of oversaturating the target with ordnance. <p class="callout info"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">**WEAPON BRIEF:** </span>The PDW-R is a compact firearm in a bullpup configuration. It is notable as being one of the few PDWs to use a standard assault rifle caliber. It features a pistol grip and ergonomics similar to the P-90, ambidextrous ejection system and controls and a tactical rail to install any desired optics.  
Procurement of this weapon is limited as production was halted with the outbreak and only a few police forces and government agencies managed to acquire some.</p>

Its high cyclic rate is hard to control and results in low accuracy, cause most of its shots to fail to strike its target. It's large, quickly-reloaded magazine lends itself to being used as a "spray-and-pray" weapon on the field. Issuing to an operator with a high Ranged Combat proficiency can remedy its weakness. ***<span class="mw-headline"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Recommended gear:  
</span></span>***- Extended Mags increase the ammo capacity, allowing it to fire off more rounds before having to reload.  
- Glasses increase its short engagement range, with some variants aiding the wearer in successfully striking their target.

<p class="callout info"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">**WEAPON BRIEF:** </span>A milestone in small arms technology, the SV-SMG features a unique vertically-canted firing mechanism that is designed to reduce the felt recoil and muzzle climb of the .45 ACP round it chambers. Its manufacturer intended to market the gun to military and law enforcement circles as both a PDW and a tactical SMG.  
A new and expensive firearm, it is not known how many were sold prior to the outbreak.</p>

<p class="callout info"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">**BACKGROUND:** </span>Among some of the more questionable firearm acquisitions made by HERC in the recent years is a 9mm Parabellum variant of the popular UMP45 with an integrated suppressor, most likely designed to replace the aging MP5SD. Despite the gun's admirable performance in stealth-based test trials, field agents have indicated major concerns about the chambered round's poor stopping power and armor penetration, rendering the gun ineffective against the increasingly well-armored hostiles in the Zone.  
Currently issued to selected HERC assault teams for further field testing.</p>
