Elite Infected

Elite Infected are a special type of zombie that starts appearing at level 15. These elite zombies announce their presence by causing a bloody border to briefly appear around the screen accompanied by a unique sound cue.

As opposed to normal zombies, they are larger, stronger, and are marked a health bar and a skull icon above their heads. They are also equipped with melee weapons that increases their damage and knockback chance. Taking them down is no easy feat, as they have high amounts of damage resistance and can be capable of running.

If the player manages to down one, they will be rewarded with an Elite Box that contains fuel, and one of the three Infamous components used for crafting Infamous items.

Elite infected can only appear on maps that are level 15 or higher and are within 5 levels of the player's leader. They do not appear on the infected attacks on the compound, nor on the Raid on Union Island. Up to three elite infected can spawn in a day.
