TACTICS:
This weapon performs similar in the field to the DRS-12, with a greater ballistic effect but a slightly slower reload. It retains the ability to incapacitate many infected targets at a time, though operators should be aware of the relatively inaccuracy of the platform and the same short effective range common of shotguns. It's recommended to give it to survivors with a high Ranged Combat Proficiency skill to compensate.
Recommended gear:
- Ammunition Mods to further improve the weapon's ballistic potential.
- Bandoliers streamline the reloading process, ensuring expedient resupply the weapon's small and quickly depleted magazine.
- Extended Mags to increase the weapon's magazine size, decreasing the amount of time the operator is left vulnerable.
- Glasses increase the wielder's ability to hit targets from further away, with some designs also aiding in improving accuracy.
- Weapon Cleaning Kits to compensate for the weapon's low accuracy, making it more viable on operators with a poor Ranged Combat ability.

BACKGROUND:
The Chainsaw Shotgun was one of the last pre-outbreak designs that were available in the Dead Zone. It features a fully automatic double-barreled shotgun on a chainsaw-style grip to ease control when firing, though it does restrict the shooter to a hip-firing position. This makes it a highly effective assault weapon, at the cost of accuracy when aiming at targets at a distance.
Various SWAT have employed the weapon due to its favorable performance characteristics SWAT teams, and HERC has made use of the design as well.

Variations:

The Chainsaw Shotgun has no modular variations.
