Overview:

PROS:

CONS:
- Reloads Slowly (vs. other assault rifles)
- Low RoF (lowest of all automatic assault rifles)

TACTICS:
Much like the AR-99 before it, it is an excellent substitute for a long rifle thanks to its long range and high accuracy. A low rate of fire and somewhat slow reload, however, means its wielder will be vulnerable in close quarters. Keep it near other survivors to provide medium-long range fire support, which will also keep its wielder protected during reloads.
Recommended gear:
- Ammunition Pouches/Bandoliers/Carrier Harnesses negate the slow reload speed.
- Glasses extend the range, with some variants improving accuracy.

BACKGROUND:
Intended as the AK-74's replacement, the Avtomat Nikonova features a recoil-reducing reciprocating barrel and unique ammunition feeding system that delays recoil until the fired rounds leave the barrel. As a result, its 2-round burst mode can land both shots in nearly the exact same spot, which is believed to help penetrate body armor.
Used in small numbers by the Russian armed forces, police and government agencies. Seen in Union City for unknown reasons.
