TACTICS:
This DRS-12's fully automatic fire, high ballistic effect, and a quickly reloaded magazine means an operator wielding it is capable of rapidly eliminating infected targets they encounter. The platform does, however, have poor accuracy compared to other shotguns, and has the short effective range common of the weapon type as well. Use with an operator having a high Ranged Combat proficiency is recommended.
Recommended gear:
- Glasses to improve the wielder's ability to hit targets from further away, with some variants improving accuracy as well.
- Weapon Cleaning Kits to compensate for the weapon's low accuracy, making it more viable on operators with poor Range Combat ability.
- Extended Mags to increase the weapon's magazine size, decreasing the amount of time the operator is left vulnerable.
BACKGROUND:
The political environment of South Africa during the 1980s spurred the creation of a cylinder-fed 12-gauge shotgun for riot control and urban combat. The platform's original designs had flawed reload and fire selection systems, but these have since been corrected to result in a most deadly close-quarter weapon.
Surviving examples remain rare, though limited numbers can be found in the hands of some military units and firearm enthusiasts.
